Birt Hogg Dube
Birt Hogg Dube (BHD) one of four in the series: Cystic Lung Disease, which I have painted for the “Breathe” exhibition this year.
The four cystic lung diseases in this series are:
Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM)
Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (LCH)
Lymphocytic Interstitial Pneumonia (LIP)
Birt Hogg Dube (BHD)
I was able to remember 3 of the 4 cystic lung diseases with the mnemonic:
“LIP, LAM and LCH”.
The only difficulty thereafter is remember what each acronym stands for… And to remember to add BHD…
BHD is characterised by:
Radiology
Best seen on a CAT scan of the chest
Oval shaped cysts (see gold oval spots in the lungs bilaterally in the paining)
Lower zone distribution
Imperceptible walls
Associations
